Hand in Hand ~ Together We Can:
Elder Services of Worcester Area's Volunteer Recognition Event
6/14/2007 - "Hand in hand ~ together we can" was the theme of this year's volunteer recognition event held on June 6th at the Manor Restaurant in West Boylston. Elder Services of Worcester Area Inc. recognized its more than 350 volunteers including Meals on Wheels drivers, Dining Site volunteers, office support volunteers, Senior Companion volunteers, Money Management volunteers, as well as members of the agency's Board of Directors, Service Committee, and Advisory Committee.
Paul Bowler, President, and Lou Swan, Executive Director of Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc. began the evening with thanks and praise of the many skills and talents our volunteers offer every day to help improve the lives and health of seniors in the community. His comments were followed by a prime rib dinner, entertainment by Jason "Magic Man" Monette, and raffle prizes of various theme baskets, including the grand prize of a complete point-shoot-and print digital camera package.
Over the past year our volunteers have offered socialization, conversation, and a friendly face to frail, isolated homebound seniors; respite to their caregivers; assistance with budgeting, bill paying, checking account maintenance, and applications for food stamps and utility company discounts; guidance to the Board of Directors and advisory councils; and Meals on Wheels delivery and dining site service of 439,743 meals to 5,705 seniors in Worcester and 13 surrounding communities.
- Thank You Again to All of Our Volunteers!
